Southwest Grappling Championship - Taking Your BJJ to the Next Level
Grapplers of all ages, sizes and skills, from all over the state, as well as Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Oklahoma and South Dakota, took part in the 2011 Southwest Grappling Championship, on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho, NM. Teams and individuals came to test their mettle on the mat. One of the teams, J5 MMA/BJJ, has been in business for nearly one year, with this competition being their third. “These events motivate the kids to train hard and stay out of trouble. Holm vs. Mathis: Mathis Says Holm's Father Should Start Praying as World Dominance Nears
On Friday, December 2, at the Route 66 Casino in Albuquerque New Mexico, the Duke City's pride and joy Holly "The Preacher's Daughter" Holm (30-1-3, 9KOs) will be facing French KO artist Anne Sophie Mathis (25-1, 20KOs). The bout is slated as the main event of Fresquez Productions "World Dominance". Holm is currently listed as the number one ranked female welterweight and Mathis is ranked third making the bout the most anticipated boxing match of the year. 2011 Southwest Grappling Championship Results
On Saturday, October 22, grapplers from around the Southwest made their way to Rio Rancho, NM, for the 2011 Southwest Grappling Championship presented by the Combat Sports Club. This was the fourth annual championship and the last event of the year by the Combat Sports Club. Judgement MMA Kickboxing Smoker II - Event Results
Judgment MMA packed the house at Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center once again on October 15, 2011, with 12 fights featuring fighters from seven gyms from around New Mexico including Mean1 MMA, Jackson/Winkeljohn MMA, Team 4Corners (Farmington), Chavez Dojo, Fitness Kicks, Martinez Inc, Monsivaiz (Las Cruces). Austin Trout has New Opponent for Showtime Debut
Austin “No Doubt” Trout was supposed to be facing Japan’s Yuki Nonaka (21-8-2) on November 11 in his Showtime debut on the network's boxing installment of ShoBox: The New Generation. But now that has all changed. Two days ago, Nonaka suffered a broken hand and was forced to withdraw from the fight. Trout is now looking to defend his WBA Light Middleweight title against Australia’s highest ranked Light Middleweight Frank LoPorto (15-4-2).
