  • MMA Year in Review - Breaking Down the Best National Fights of 2011

2011 was a magnificent year for the sport of mixed martial arts, especially if your name is Dana White. The UFC landed a contract with a major television network in FOX, acquired a rival organization in Strikeforce, brought in more exciting lighter weight fighters from the WEC and introduced us to five-round non-title main events. We covered a variety of great success stories in our Thanksgiving article “Five Things MMA Fans Should Be Thankful For“.And in between all that we witnessed great fights put on by great fighters. So who tops the list? I will attempt to break down the best fights, fighters, knockouts, submissions and upsets here on the US Combat Sports Year in Review.

  • Youth Overcomes Experience As Strickland And Cottrell Pick Up Wins At King Of The Cage Steel Curtain

King Of The Cage "Steel Curtain" brought nine professional bouts and what should have been a 185-pound title matchup to Norman, Oklahoma Saturday night. The card featured 13 Oklahomans looking to grab a win in front of a sold out crowd at Riverwind Casino’s Showplace Theater. Headlining the card was to be a title fight between current belt holder Brandon Hunt and the undefeated Sean Strickland. Unfortunately Strickland came in overweight and regardless of how the bout played out Hunt would retain his title.

Over the weekend King of the Cage descended upon Norman, Oklahoma for the second time this year with King Of The Cage "Steel Curtain". This card was stock full of Oklahoma talent and no one left disappointed. • Wrestling: The Secret Weapon For High School Football Players

High school wrestling programs across the nation are being co-operated by two high schools if not being dropped. Wrestling programs across the nation struggle to survive due to the Title Nine rules. The Title Nine rule states that “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance..."—United States Code Section 20, . This unfortunately hurts wrestling in the sense that they’re no other female programs that co-exist with wrestling making it one of the first programs to be eliminated. But football coaches c...

  • How to Prevent Season Ending Injuries Throughout the Wrestling Season

Wrestling is one of the world’s oldest forms of competition. It ranges from youth wrestling to middle school, high school, collegiate, and at the Olympic level. Since the sport of wrestling is severely demanding on a wrestler’s body, it is important that they take proper care of themselves in and out of season. Hurting includes a bruised eye, broken nose or some sort of condition that might be a burden, but won’t prevent one from competition. An injury is what prevents a wrestler from continuing to wrestle during the season. An injury might be a torn ACL and/or ...
