In 2009 the Combat Sports Club instituted it's own point system, unhappy with the way other organizations managed their point systems, grappler databases, and top tier divisions. Many of those organizations charge competitors to have their tournament results listed and offer nothing as a reward. Still others charge competitors more to compete in Elite divisions and let favoritism affect their decisions on who can compete. The Combat Sports Club awards points for (Men NoGi) placings which lead to Elite status when 5000 points are reached. Placers in the Elite Division will receive prizes in addition to a medal. Austin Trout Retains WBA Super Welterweight Title Over Frank LoPorto, Readies for "Chump" Anthony Mundine
On Friday night at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas, in his second defense of the WBA Super Welterweight title Austin Trout (24-0, 14KOs) had the performance of a lifetime by putting a pounding for six rounds on Australian Frank LoPorto (14-5-2, 7KOs). Early on LoPorto was the aggressor forcing Trout to become a brawler. Trout demonstrated excellent poise by responding to LoPorto’s advances with technical skill, even dropping the Aussie with a straight right hand in the first round. “I had a plan, I executed. East had an impressive start as a varsity wrestler throughout high school and was state champion twice in his junior and senior years. He competed at 185-pounds his junior year, but moved up to heavyweight his senior year to make room for his little brother Tyler “The Beast” East to compete at the lower weight class. Friday night at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas, Archie Ray Marquez (12-1, 8 KO) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, will face undefeated Uzbekistani Bahodir Mamajanov (6-0, 4 KO). The contest is part Showtime’s boxing series ShoBox: The New Generation and will take place on the unaired portion of the Austin Trout vs. Frank LoPorto WBA light middleweight championship undercard. Eric Kucevic - Back in the Cage for Evolution 2
Eric Kucevic has been a part of Albuquerque martial arts for the better part of the last 15 years. Although he was not born in New Mexico, he still considers himself a native, having moved here when he was a small child. Kucevic had no real father figure in his life, dropping out of high school in the 11th grade. He didn't participate in sports, but began working at the early age of 13, beginning with delivering papers, and he has never really been without a job since. When the rest of his class graduated, he decided to take his GED, which he passed and then decided to join the Navy. That lasted for less than a year, after which he got into the electrical trade.
