The Ultimate Fighter Unjumps The Shark, Reinvents Format by Bringing All Fights Live to FX
A little over six years ago Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar stood toe-to-toe for fifteen grueling minutes trading blow after blow in what has since been dubbed as the sport's most important fight. Following the breathtaking finale of the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter" the series continued to gain momentum while showcasing some of the sport's brightest up-and-comers. But as with most reality series, viewers began to lose interest in TUF as the format remained relatively unchanged and the talent level dipped. However, with the recently announced partnership with FOX, the series is getting a much needed overhaul that should bring it to heights never before reached.Add Comment -
UFC and FOX Reach Massive Seven Year Agreement Greatly Expanding the Reach and Magnitude of the Sport
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is finally going mainstream. After years of marketing the sport of mixed martial arts and its brand as strongly and efficiently as possible, Dana White and the UFC have agreed to a monumental partnership with FOX that will last at least for the next seven years. The initial agreement will deliver four live events in prime time each year to the FOX broadcast network, bring The Ultimate Fighter reality series to FOX's general entertainment cable channel FX, and host a mixture of additional events on channels such as FUEL TV. -

The mainstream integration of mixed martial arts and the Ultimate Fighting Championship looks to be just around the corner. A deal between the UFC and FOX is expected to be unveiled during a press conference scheduled for later today. Zuffa & FOX Partner on Programming Deal
Zuffa has finally done it.Reports broke earlier today from Sports Business Journal that the company has signed a mutli year, multi million deal that would begin in 2012 and put at least four fights broadcasted on FOX and sister channel, FX. The current contract between the MMA giant and SpikeTV (as well as Versus) expires at the end of 2011, it appears that they have wasted no time in finding a new home, which will reach a new, broader audience. -

Matt Grice Now to Face Nam Phan at UFC 136 in a Must Win for Both Fighters
News spread quickly this morning that featherweight Josh Grispi had withdrawn from his bout with Matt Grice and would be replaced by Nam Phan. Dana White solidified the rumors of Phan’s substitution. "Josh Grispi had to withdraw from UFC 136 in Houston, but the always ready Nam Phan is stepping up and taking his place vs Matt Grice on October 8th," said UFC President Dana White. "Both fighters have verbally agreed to the featherweight matchup." -

MMA Fight Pit: Injury Forces Lovato to Step Down, KOTC’s Jacob Clark Steps Up
Lenny “The Godfather” Lovato has suffered a broken hand during training. He has continued to train, taking care not to aggravate the injury, hoping to be ready to fight this Saturday, August 13, 2011 at MMA Fight Pit “Genesis” set to take place at UNM’s Pit. Unfortunately, as fight week arrived, he was told that he would surely need surgery if he chose to fight with the injured hand. Lovato is keeping his head up, though. “The hand’s feeling ok, irritating but ok.” Lovato had taken a break, after his last fight in July 2010, to be with his family (wife and three children), but has been training for the last several months in preparation for “Genesis.” -
