Yet, despite the sport’s growing popularity, Wisconsin remains one of only 10 states in the country that does not currently have regulatory and safety standards for MMA competitions. However, the good news is that may change, and the effort to regulate MMA has begun. State Senator David Hansen (D-Green Bay) and State Representative Pedro Colón (D-Milwaukee) recently introduced legislation to establish regulatory and safety standards for MMA in Wisconsin, a move that would help ensure athlete safety and protect the integrity of this growing sport.
