RDX Leather Pro Boxing Gloves Review

RDX Boxing Gloves for Training & Muay Thai - Cowhide Leather Mitts for Kickboxing, Fighting & Sparring - Great for Heavy Punch Bag, Double End Speed Ball, Grappling Dummy and Focus Pads Punching

As some of the most comfortable gloves in this line, these are very comfortable and also quite natural on the fighter’s hands. They provide excellent protection for all of the hand parts and they seem to be well balanced, as well as well designed. Let’s look at what makes them stand out from the crowd.

1. Design

The fact that cowhide leather is used for these gloves ensures that they can stay durable and strong over time. It’s also worth noting that the product comes with as many as four layers of gel padding on the inside, which means that it will provide you with the resistance that you need to all kinds of shocks.

The padding also means that you get to benefit from a good fit over your hand, and most boxers say that it is comfortable. As for the leather strap that this model is outfitted with, it’s light and fully capable of maintaining the environment cool and well-ventilated.

You’ll also be glad to know that the unit comes with an adjustable wrist strap that relies on a hook and loop mechanism to ensure a secure fit. This means that putting the gloves on and taking them off can be done effortlessly.

2. Comfort and protection

Since a unique gel mold was utilized for the padding of these gloves, they are lightweight and comfortable, but at the same time, strong enough to protect you. The leather feels comfortable and cool on your hands, even after you wear them for some time.

As for the top and the side parts of the gloves, they are able to provide you with the right protection against hooks, jabs, or uppercut combos.

3. Durability and quality

Most of the boxers that have given these gloves a shot say that they have been using them for a bit over two years now and they have failed to encounter any issue to date. The functionality of this unit makes it possible for boxers to improve their techniques and skills since they aren’t going to fall apart like their competitors.

There have been boxers who have reported that these gloves can be a little too tight if they also wear hand wraps, so do keep that in mind. Sizing problems are quite common when shopping for boxing gloves.

RDX F7 Ego Boxing Gloves Review

RDX Boxing Gloves for Training & Muay Thai - Maya Hide Leather Mitts for Fighting, Kickboxing, Sparring - EGO Glove for Punch Bag, Focus Pads, Thai Pad, Grappling Dummy and Double End Ball Punching

These are a little more budget-friendly compared to some of the others manufactured by the same brand. They are extremely popular with beginners and they are available in sizes ranging from 8oz to 16oz.

1. Materials and quality

For their cost, the Ego model seems to be quite well made. It’s not going to last for a century, but that doesn’t matter that much considering that it’s primarily geared toward beginning boxers who are going to up their skills anyway and as such, they’re going to want to upgrade their gloves, as well.

The outside of the gloves is made from Maya Hide leather. While you might think that this means real leather, it’s actually the name that the brand gives its products that boast a PU leather cover.

However, the material does feel soft to the touch and it has been perfected. It does feel a little rubbery compared to real leather, which isn’t a drawback per se, but it does cause the glove to squeak a bit when your fingers and thumb touch or rub onto each other.

As for the inner material, it has a smooth feel, but that’s not something you’ll notice if you tend to wear hand wraps.

2. Comfort

The padding of the gloves depends on the size that you will choose. However, in most cases, it seems to be quite substantial. Your knuckles are well padded, but the layer is reasonably slim so that it doesn’t render the gloves bulky.

You can also effortlessly make a fist around the grip bar. As for the wrist, it has a good amount of support, and it seems to be more durable than that of other gloves designed for beginning boxers.

When it comes to breathability, if you’ve ever had the chance to wear a pair of real leather boxing gloves, you will be able to compare it with this one. Clearly, the artificial leather is less breathable than its real counterpart, yet it gets the job done nonetheless. The gloves don’t feel damp or wet, but the amount of sweat accumulated on the inside is still noticeable.

3. Design

This is by far the main reason why this glove model has become so popular. The design is clean and minimalistic, and all of the color combos rely on white as a base. There are 4 highlight colors you can pick from — blue, red, green, and gold. The gold one has a metallic shine to it, which is why it’s become the favorite of many boxers.

Most fighters know that white gloves tend to wear out over time, especially over the knuckle area. However, the graphics are excellent on this model, so at least they’re going to last for the time you take your skills to a whole new level and then move on to another type of boxing glove.

RDX Maya Hide Leather Boxing Gloves Review

RDX Maya Hide Leather Boxing Gloves Punch Bag Mitts Sparring Punching Training Kickboxing Muay Thai Martial Arts

If you’ve been searching for a more affordable pair of good-quality boxing gloves, the Maya Hide leather option should be right up your alley. The glove is handmade and, as such, a little more expensive than some of the most budget-friendly options out there. It’s still affordable enough for most boxers, even those who are starting out.

The best thing about this model is by far the quality of the materials used. The Maya hide is going to make it possible for the leather to avoid flaking or degrading ahead of time.

1. Protection

The best thing about this unit is that it comes with not one, not two, but as many as three layers of Polymax contoured padding. This means that you are going to benefit from excellent hand and knuckle protection.

The wraparound Velcro closure strap is easy to use and makes it a breeze for you to put on and take off the gloves, even when you’re all alone. Some might argue that Velcro is less reliable compared to other types of closures, but this one seems to be decent enough (at least judging by the feedback it has acquired in this sense).

2. Comfort

You might want to know that these gloves boast strategically placed air vents and that they can be found in the palm area. What this means for you is that your palms are going to benefit from enough breathability so that they remain cool and as sweat-free as possible.

If you’re one of those boxers who want to train for a longer amount of time without having to stop, take off their gloves, and remove the sweat that might have accumulated, then this model might make sense for you.

Additionally, the unit comes with a moisture-wicking mesh liner on the interior layer, so your hands are really kept dry.

3. Fit and design

The Maya model doesn’t skimp on quality, especially considering its handmade design. Since the exterior is smooth and reliable, you are more than free to use the glove for training on a regular basis, but you can also use it on heavy bags.

Most of those that have taken the time to review this product say that it fits snugly and keeps your hand as secured and protected as possible, no matter how hard you tend to train.

4. Caveats

In our research, we came across some consumer reports according to which the gloves can suffer from foam damage within a couple of weeks after the purchase. Strenuous training, along with incorrect use are the two main causes of this mishap, but it shouldn’t have happened anyway.

Generally, the RDX Maya model is a cheap but good-quality option, especially for beginners. The craftsmanship is something worth writing home about and the design can keep your hands dry and cool for no matter how long you train.

If you have the budget to try out something a bit higher-end, we would suggest looking into the RDX Cow Hide Leather Boxing Gloves. They are capable of standing the test of time, and they also seem to offer better protection on account of the material they’re manufactured of. As for ventilation, it’s just as good, if not better, compared to that boasted by the Maya.
