The best Muay Thai advice comes from your trainer, but there can be times when you can’t get to the studio, so you need to practice on your own. For those times, you need the best Muay Thai training DVD on the market. We did a little research to find some of the most critically acclaimed options in this category. In the end, we settled on three of the most popular (and most effective) ones, but the first one that we recommend is Muay Thai Training with World Champions: Saiyok and Kem. This is an entire series, but the fifth one allows you to become acquainted with the two Thai superstars. They’ll give you tips and tricks that you need for your long-term performance. If you’d prefer something a little different, maybe check out the Duke Roufus Muay Thai Instructional DVDs (an 8-pack).

Best Muay Thai Training DVDs (Reviews)
Muay Thai instructionals aren’t as common as you might think. Sure, there are lots of courses and online information that you can use to your advantage, but that usually takes a lot of time. There are even Muay Thai books that can tell you how you can take your performance to a whole new level.
To give you a helping hand, we have showcased three of the highest recommended options. These DVDs have been highly spoken of as they seem to provide you with the right info.
1. Muay Thai Training with World Champions: Saiyok and Kem
Saiyok Pumphanmuang was voted as the best Thai boxer of 2010 and Kem Sitsongpeenong was voted as the best Thai boxer of 2011. So you’re getting your advice from the right people if you decide to choose this training DVD.
You can use it as a resource for your inspiration and train the techniques that these two have used time and again to become advanced boxers. They will introduce you to their training routine and give you lots of details and as many tips as possible.
Saiyok and Kem will show you some of their best combinations, counters, and feints, all of which they actually use in their fights. One thing we’d like to note about this choice is that there have been fighters who have reported that it doesn’t address the needs of beginners.
It is broken down into sections and it also explains each with great examples. It’s better for intermediates, however.
2. Duke Roufus Muay Thai Instructional DVDs – 8 Amazing Volumes for Full Contact Kickboxing, Muay Thai & Mixed Martial Arts Fighting
Duke Roufus is a four-time World Heavyweight Muay Thai Champion, and he’s considered one of the best and most technical heavyweights of all time. With this DVD set, you will be able to learn from him pretty much anything that he knows.
The set is packed with more than 6 hours of excellent instruction that you aren’t going to find elsewhere. You’ll be glad to know that the series govers everything from basic Muay Thai to the equipment you need to fight and train properly. You’ll also find here some advanced techniques such as counter striking, fight game plans, and strategy.
Each technique is explained in as much detail as possible. In short, this is a must-have DVD series for anyone who wants to learn how to make the most of their skills. Most of the reviews of this DVD set are favorable, with fighters saying that the instructions are organized and in-depth.
3. Muay Thai Saekson Janjira Special Training Drills
This is another good Muay Thai training DVD that you should bear in mind, especially if you are a beginner/intermediate stand-up fighters. According to some of the reviews garnered by this product, it seems to be able to help your balance and endurance, and it can also take your kicking to a whole new level.
You will also improve your speed thanks to the advice given by master Saekson Janjira as he makes learning Muay Thai very easy.
On the other hand, we did come across one report from a fighter who has been training for many years and according to whom this DVD doesn’t address advanced Muay Thai practitioners at all. Although the Master’s pointers and performance are sound, you might want to consider a different option if you’re intermediate and above. In any case, it is worth giving a try.

Muay Thai Training DVD Guide
There’s not much to consider when it comes to Muay Thai training DVDs, and that’s because you really don’t have that many options available anymore. Those who want to learn to master some techniques often do it with the help of online resources.
In any case, we have created a short guide that can take you through some of the most important aspects that you ought to bear in mind.
Who’s teaching you?
The best way of going about things if you have little to no experience is to do a little research on the trainer. While most instructional DVDs don’t really come with incorrect information or can’t put your health in danger, getting the right advice from the right person can make all the difference.
Champions don’t necessarily make the best instructors — especially if they haven’t been in the Muay Thai game for a reasonable amount of time. The trainer needs to be equipped with teaching skills, as well. Otherwise, you aren’t going to be able to make a lot of what he/she is saying.
As you might have noticed from the short selection that we put together, Muay Thai training DVDs can be focused on specific techniques. If you know that you are lacking in a particular area, it might be a good idea to look for an instructional for that.
Beginners can definitely choose broader courses, but intermediate and advanced Muay Thai practitioners should be a little more specific in their research.
Single or set
We can’t tell you what to pick on this account because your needs are probably different from those of another Muay Thai fighter. Sets are usually more comprehensive and they contain a lot more info compared to single DVDs.
On the other hand, if you’re a bit more experienced, you might not have any use for the extra DVDs in the set. It all boils down to your personal requirements and how the DVD can meet and even exceed them.
