In now his third straight victory since his release from the UFC, Al-Hassan has made it evident that he wants back in the big time. He earned a second round submission over Demtrius Richards on Saturday night to improve his professional record to 10-2.
In what would ultimately become a grappling chess match, Richards began the contest by securing a quick single-leg takedown. But a limited ground attack saw “Razor” reverse the position into a rear-naked-choke. Richards ultimately worked his way back onto top as the round came to a close, creating an extremely tough round to score.
After a missed takedown by Richards, and a decent leg kick by Al-Hassan, the second frame saw Richards miss on a sweep that would ultimately determine his fate. The Milwaukee transplant found his way into a mount of Richards, and eventually transition into a rear-naked-choke that caused the Nebraskan to tap with his legs.
With the submission, Al-Hassan has rattled off three victories in a row and has clearly thrown himself back onto the national organizations’ radar. Check back to USCombatSports.com tomorrow for an update as to where and when Al-Hassan will fight next.
