![]() Wisconsin Combat Sports will be covering tonight’s Strikforce event live from the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill.; follow the play by play action here all night long as some of the world’s best fighters battle it out.
The preliminary action is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT and the coverage will continue through the main event matchup between Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers.
The page will continually be updated after each and every round.
5:30 - Gus Johnson and Jimmy Lennon Jr. practicing walkouts. Crowd beginning to funnel in. Excitement Growing.
Jonates Novaes (4-2) vs. Christian Uflacker (1-0)
Round 1 – Uflacker gets big ovation from a still small crowd. Uflacker shoots in and gets the takedown. Uflacker works on passing Novaes guard, but settles on throwing punches from side control. Novaes continues to hold on taking relatively no damage. Ref stands em up, Uflacker shoots again and eventually takes Noveas down. Not the most exciting round, but Uflacker stays in complete control throughout. WCS sees it 10-9 Uflacker.
Round 2 - Novaes gains takedown early on stays on top. Nothing happens and ref stands them up. Uflacker gains takedown and is in Novae's half guard. Uflacker continues to try to pass his guard, while working his oppents ribs. Novaes does another nice job of avoiding damage. Uflacker finishes the round in complete control again. WCS sees it 10-9 Uflacker.
Round 3 - Both fighters miss early strikes. Uflacker goes for takedown and again gets position. Black belt Novaes attemptsts to grab an arm, Novaes throws kick from the ground and nails Uflacker's head. Ref stops fight and doctor enters the ring. Uflacker looks bad, lots of personnel in ring. Uflacker down for long time and stumbles to his feet. He is a bit wobbly. Looks as if ref takes a point, fight restarts. Crowd still only 25 percent full, but they erupt. Uflacker goes for a single leg and ends up in guard again. Novaes works on securing a leg triangle, but nothing comes from it. Ref stands them up, and Uflacker goes for another takedown. Executes a double and gets in half guard again. Fight ends with Uflacker in a familiar spot, controlling from the guard. WCS sees it Uflacker 10-8. WCS sees it 30-26.

Crowd is now about 1/3 full.
Nate Moore (5-1) vs. Louis Taylor (4-0)
Round 1 – Early feeling out process. Taylor uses good left head kick to back up Moore. Moore throws wild punches, but Taylor pushes him against the cage. Moor tries leg sweep but Taylor blocks and regains cage control. Taylor backs off and connects with looping left and right punches. Taylor takes knee to groin and action halts. Quickly its back, Taylor lands good front kick. Moore though grabs a takedown and gets back side control. Position reverses two or three times quickly, but Moore regains Taylor's back. Round ends with Moore on Taylor's back. Tough round to score, but WCS sees it 10-9 Moore.
Round 2 - Both throwing bombs, Moore slightly connects. Scramble on feet ensues, Taylor pushes Moore into the cage. Ref halts action Restarts and Moore connects with big punch. Moore tries for takedown but transitions to taking Taylor's back. Moore flattens out Taylor with punches, brings him towards center of cage. Rains down punches to Taylor's head. Taylor doesn't fight back and and ends up tapping out from the punches.

Crowd now about half full. There is a buzz throughout the arena.
Shamar Bailey (9-1) vs. John Kolosci (10-5)
Round 1 – Good ovation for former Ultimate Fighter contestant John Kolosci. Big John refereeing the match. Bailey executes double leg takedown very early. Kolosci stands up only to be whipped down again. Bailey now in side control, but Kolosci regains his feet. Bailey throws punch and Kolosci grabs an attempt at a guillotine. Bailey breaks it however, but Kolosci finds a way to grab top position. Scramble ensues and both end up on feet, Bailey lands a big left hand and takes Kolosci down. Kolosci tries grabbing a guillotine but doesn't come close. Both fighters get back to their feet holding each other. Kolosci starts landing strikes before slipping. Close round, but WCS sees it 10-9 Bailey.
Round 2 - Kolosci misses a round kick and Bailey delivers a straight left hand. Kolosci drops while trying to grab another guillotine. He gets it tighter but Bailey refuses to quit. Kolosci tries to transition into a single leg, but Bailey reverses it and gains side control. Bailey traps Kolosci's arm for short time and attacks Kolsci with punches. Kolosci regains footing however, and Bailey goes for another takedown, but leaves neck open again. Kolosci attempts his fourth unsuccessful guillotine. Bailey throws knee into Kolosci's head and gets a point taken. Round ends with both standing. WCS sees it 9-9.
Round 3 - Final round begins with Kolosci throwing another missed round kick and a stalemate at the fence. Bailey picks up opponent and slams him to the ground, landing in full guard. Both get back to feet and Bailey grabs a goofy single leg. Bailey moves from full guard to half, but they move back to standing. Kolosci lands a short right to the face of Bailey. But Bailey again grabs a double leg takedown. Kolosci attempts yet another guillotine to no avail. Fight ends with Bailey picking up Kolosci and driving him into the mat. WCS sees it as 10-9. WCS sees Bailey's wrestling winning the fight 29-27.

Word travels that the fight is officially a sell out. Sears Centre Arena is rapidly filling up. as the tatted up Curran enters the ring. Sam Thao's replacement Neace gets booed and Curran gets huge ovation.
Jeff Curran (31-12-1) vs. Dustin Neace (17-13-1)
Round 1 – Fight begins with Curran going for early kicks and Neace throwing punches. The two trade powerful kicks for first minute. Lightning quick strikes are thrown and Neace goes for a flying armbar, but it didn't work. From the standing position against the cage Neace out of nowhere taps as he begins holding his ribs. It looks as a rib may have somehow been broken. He continues to hold his ribgage as "Big Frog" drops to his knees and picks up the member of his corner in joy. WCS would have rather seen Thao in this one.
Jeff Curran def Dustin Neace at 1:39 into Round 1 due to Submission (Injury)
Not too many open seats left in the building. Red Fedor shirts splattered throughout the crowd. Jumbo-trons repeatedly release snippets of new EA Sports MMA videogame demo.
Strikeforce jumps ahead and announces the night's only woman's fight. For the first time the large bursts of flames erupt as Modafferi and Coenen enter the arena. The cameras around the ring begin to act more feverishly as this fight will most likely be aired on CBS. The excitement of the crowd seems intensified as the winner of this fight will be the next in line for "Cyborg" Santos. CBS and Strikeforce is praying for a highlight knockout or pretty submission by Coenen.
Marloes Coenen (16-3) vs. Roxanne Modafferi (13-4)
Round 1 – Coenen comes out swinging, and hits Roxy with a big knee. Roxy gains top position on the ground, but Coenen utilizes her strong guard. Coenen throws both of her feet on the head of Modafferi and grabs her arm. Coenen viciously hyperextends Modafferi's arm and forces her to tap. We have Cyborg's next opponent.

People throughout the arena are already placing bets on how "Mayhem" will walk out tonight. WCS can't wait. Two quick fights have created the first real stoppage in the night's action. The pacing of the card has been extremely well run and professional, like a card on network television should be. Place is packed. Good job Midwest fight fans. Next stop for Strikeforce, Wisconsin. Someday...
We Are Live. Crowd goes nuts. I have chills. Werdum enters the cage and waits for the monster of a man Silva to enter. Place is jam-packed. Silva's jaw is ridiculous. Werdum gets big cheer, but not as big as "Big Foot's".
Antonio Silva (13-1) vs. Fabricio Werdum (12-4-1)
Round 1 – Good stare down. Werdum misses with big kick. Silva pegs him with a good combo. Silva's hands look amazing as he he puts Werdum down with huge shots. With Werdum on his big Silva steps back and comes forward with a huge right hand to Werdum. Silva lets his opponent back to his feet. Werdum gives a good leg kick. Silva looks way faster than Fabricio. Werdum tries to bring Werdum to the ground but Big Foot has no part. Both are back on the feet. Silva lands a huge leg kick. Fabricio lands a big overhand right that echoes through the building. Fabricio lands a huge combo and just misses with a big head kick. Silva struts away after the missed kick. Now Silva hunts Fabricio, and puts him against the cage. Silva hits him with a right hook that drops Werdum. Round ends. What an amazing first round. WCS gives it to Silva 10-9, almost 10-8.
Round 2 - Fabricio charges in with punches but Silva drops him with a left hook. Fabricio invites Silva to the ground but he tries to stay on the outside. Silva keeps getting closer and Fabricio want s to use his jiu-jitsu. Silva gets too close and Fabricio puts him on his back and takes top position landing hammer fists. Silva gets back to feet but eats a knee during the standup. Both guys tire and slow the pace a bit. Ref breaks them apart and puts them in the center. Silva pushes Werdum against the cage but is brought to the ground. Werdum now on top looking for armbar. Transitions from armbar to a kneebar, but Silva gets on top. WCS sees it a weak 10-9 Werdum.
Round 3 - Action starts with both throwing leg kicks. Silva misses a big knee. Werdum throws a lunging left hook that barely misses. After jostiling for position Werdum goes for a single leg and takes Silva's back. Silva protects his head but is in trouble. Silva is able to regain his balance, Silva then starts connecting with combos, and Werdum just misses a knee to the head. Fabricio puts Silva against the cage and utilizes his big knees. The two trade punches in the center of the ring. Werdum lands another knee. Fabricio lands big knee and Silva drops, he may have stolen the round and the fight. Werdum now on top position and passes Silva's guard. He uses huge hammerfists to Silva's big jaw. The fight ends with Werdum in control. WCS sees it 10-9 Werdum. WCS sees the fight narrowly going in Werdum's favor, 29-28.
Fabricio Werdum def Antonio Silva by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
The crowd gives both fighters a good ovation. That one might be tough to beat. Soko comes out to an African drum beat with roaring lions in the background. He's an intimidating looking dude, but Mousasi is a beast. Crowd goes crazy for Mousasi, a star may be in the making. This is a non-title fight remember, only 3 rounds, that's good for Soko. Mousasi looks like a trained killer.
Gegard Mousasi (29-2-1) vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjo (7-4)
Round 1 – Feeling out process. Good head kick by Mousasi. Soko looking to unload big punches. Mousasi holds both hands up in the air. Mousasi just misses another head kick. Mousasi throws a kick that lands low on Soko. Action restarts and Soko hits Mousasi low. Crowd boos. Soko throwing his looping left and following it with leg kicks. SOko tried to get a double leg but Mousasi stuffed it. Both fighters throw good leg kicks, and the Mousasi begins to land a good combination. But Soko shows his Judo skill for maybe the first time in his career and throws Mousasi down. Mousasi however revers and takes side control. Both fighters get up but Soko powers him back down and grabs Mousasi's head. Mousasi goes for a giullotine to no avail. Soko once again uses his judo and sweeps Mousasi. Round ends with Mousasi throwing up kicks and doing some sick leg movement where he took Soko down. He may have just stolen the round. WCS gives the round to Mousasi 10-9.
Round 2 - Mousasi lands a good front kick to start out the round. Both grapple against the cage, Mousasi lands knees to the body. Mousasi continues with the inside knee and gets warned about hitting the groin. Mousasi then starts teeing off on Soko in the corner with a flurry of rights and lefts. Soko shows more good skill as he sweeps the leg of Mousasi and lands in top position. Mousasi tries to grab an armbar and comes very close. He just misses and ends up in Soko's guard. From there he lands right hands to the gassed Soko. His strikes get stronger and stronger. Soko needs to fight back but he doesn't. David Smith calls the fight and Mousasi wins exactly the way we thought he would.

Mousasi is the sport's next big thing. Expect him to be considered the sport's best light heavyweight within two years. The crowd cheers as a clip of "Mayhem" is shown. How will Miller come to the cage? Here goes. Mayhem has his entourage all set up. He exits from behind the curtain with a Jesus robe on and dances to the ring through a line of cheerleaders. I love this guy. He brings a fun element to the sport. The crowd goes absolutely crazy in the Sears Centre as he enters the cage. Shields comes down in his own way, cool and calm. Some boos are actually directed at Shields, but Big John McCarthy gets the biggest ovation.
Jason Miller (22-6) vs. Jake Shields (23-4-1)
Round 1 – Crowd goes nuts as the two head to the center. Shields gets an early double leg. Already bad position for Miller. Both throw punches at the other from the ground,but Shields grabs Miller's back early. Miller turns into him but it might just be a matter of time. Shilelds gets mount but Miller gets out and back to his feet. Shields goes for another takedown and works Miller to the ground. Miller raises his palm to the crowd with Shields on him, but Shields is doing what he needs to win the fight. Miller gets up and picks up Shields, he takes him down with a huge slam. The crowd goes crazy as Shields looks for an armlock. Back to the feet it goes and Mayhem slams Shields twice. His size may be playing a factor. Round ends with Mille on top. Even though Miller looked good at the end, WCS gives the first round to Shields 10-9.
Round 2 - Miller has the crowd behind him now. Miller takes Shields down after an attempted slam, but Shields ends up in better position. Shieds has the side of Miller and throws punches that hit the back of Miller's head. Shields is able to grab Mayhem's back and tries to put in the hooks. Shields softens him up with shots to the head and continues to wrk on the choke. The crowd urges Miller to get out of the weird backwards crucifix that Shields has gained. Big John tells them to work as Shields again takes Miller's back. Miller is able to get out but Shields then goes for an ankle lock. Miller ends the round on top, but Shields wins it 10-9.
Round 3 - Miller begins the round with a takedown of his own but Shields is able to reverse the position. Shields found a familiar location has he landed hammer fists and tried to grab another rear naked choke. Miller spun his way into the top position but not for long. Both guys stand up and Mayhem lands a spinning backfist. Shields is winning the fight but losing fans. The fight is halted as Miller's glove needs to be retaped. Miller only has 1:49 to steal the round. But Shields immediately takes him to the mat. Fans boo as Shields continues to score points. Miller quickly grabs the back of Shields but does not have good enough position. With 12 seconds Miller sinks in a super deep choke but the round comes to an end! Fans go crazy as it looked like Shields may have tapped. Saved by the bell. WCS sees it 10-9 Shields, but another one that could have went both ways.
Round 4 - Shields starts the round with another takedown of Mayhem. The rear naked choke may have taken more out of Mayhem. A chant of "Mayhem" rains through the building as Shields continues to lay on Miller. Fans begin to boo, but Shields is winning the fight, however not a bigger paycheck. McCarthy stands them up and Miller comes out swinging. He hits Shields but once again, the champion takes Miller down to the mat. Shields is able to pass Miller's guard and get the mount. Shields ends the round on top again. WCS sees it 10-9 Shields.
Round 5 - Fifth and final round. Miller needs a knockout or submission. He comes out swinging but Shileds goes for a takedown. Miller stuffs it but Shields jumps up on top of his back. Shields ends up on top and goes back to his old tricks. He grabs Miller's back again and softens him up with strikes. Miller tries to kick his way off of the cage, but Shields grip is too strong. Miller reverses to the top, but its far too late. Shields again gets top position and has :40 left until he is awarded the decision. The fans and Mayhem aren't happy, but Shields wins another round. WCS sees it 10-9 Shields. WCS sees Shields outwrestle Mayhem 50-45.
Jake Shields def Jason Miller by Unanimous Decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47)
Shields walks out to nothing but boos. Unless he gets a submission, his style is not entertaining. He is super talented though, and an overall better fighter than Miller. The boring, but better man walked away with the belt.
Fedor Time!
Rodgers heard some boos as he entered the cage. People went nuts when Fedor's Russian music blared over the loud speaker. He has won over the fans that pay to see a fight, the ratings will show how he has won over the American public. Fedor walked in the cage, I have goosebumps. The lights go out and the main event is upon us. Rodgers hears more boos than cheers in introductions. Fedor is cheered so loud.
Fedor Emelianenko (30-1) vs. Brett Rogers (10-0)
Round 1 - It's Showtime. Both throw fast at each other. Feeling each other out. Fedor takes Rogers down after a missed punch. Rogers gets back up and presses Fedor into the cage. Good job by Rogers to get back to his feet. Chant of Fedor chants erupts. Fedor pushes off and they're back in the center of the cage. Fedor connects with huge bombs and takes Rogers down. He pounds his head much like he did Sylvia. Fedor on top in half guard. Rogers reverses but Fedor grabs his arm. Rogers now on top throwing bombs. But Fedor grabs his arm. Fight is crazy. Fedor is on top throwing. Fedor works an arm choke in Rogers guard. Rogers showing more than people though he would. Fedor stalking and throws a lunging punch. What a first round. Fedor 10-9.
Both guys landed huge bombs. Both took punishment. Fedor cut open. Rogers showing that he had more than people gave him credit for.
Round 2 - Rogers throws a straight left jab. Rogers has Fedor against the cage throus huge bombs. Rogers comes charging back like a bull. Wow. Fedor connects with a huge overhand right to the side of Rogers. FIGHT OVER! The man, the myth, the legend. Strikeforce has become a major player on the scene with him on the roster. Rogers looks really disappointed. Fedor hoisted on shoulders. Another highlight reel win for the world's best heavyweight.
