King Mo says he's a champ, not a prospect
Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal is considered by most to be a rising star in the sport, a top prospect. He doesn't see himself that way. "I don't think you can call me an up and comer anymore," Lawal said. People can say that based on my time in the sport, but it makes no sense to call me a prospect. I'm a world champion. If I am a prospect, then that means Brock Lesnar is a prospect. He has only been fighting a year longer than me." On Saturday, Aug. 21 in Houston, Lawal will have another opportunity to show just how far along he is.Add Comment -

Did Anderson Silva revolutionize MMA at UFC 117?
In the nineties, MMA was a war of styles. Now that the game is more finely-tuned, it's a battle of trends. The stories and reviews have all credited Anderson Silva's black belt in jiu jitsu for his fight-winning, 'Hail Mary' triangle choke in his seventh title defense on Saturday. Yet, during the twenty-or-so minutes that the champion was lying on his back getting pulverized and humbled (actually, we'll see about that one) by Chael Sonnen, Silva attempted that same hold multiple times. It wasn't until the final round that Silva, with Sonnen in his guard, stuck the challenger in the face with a stiff punch. Sonnen, already lacerated and bleeding from an eariler s... -

The Adventures of Shama Ko: Rio Open Finals
On the final day of the 2010 Rio Open I went with my Aussie friends, who are from TP Gym Sydney. We went to the Rio finals after my first day of training at Gracie Tijuca. No matter where I am, I love to watch the black and brown belt finals. It's always a treat to see the legends in Brazilian jiu jitsu execute their technique against each other. I learned so much and of course, it is even more dynamic than seeing them on video! -
UFC 117: Silva Vs. Sonnen- Recap
For 23 minutes, Chael Sonnen looked like he was going to come through on his promise of "punching a hole in Anderson Silva's face." Then, in 10 quick seconds, the fight completely turned. Silva (27-4), who had been on his back for nearly the entire fight, threw up his leg and snapped on a textbook triangle choke. Sonnen pulled away as hard as he could, but Silva had it cinched, and Sonnen (25-11-1) did the only thing he could. Tap.
