Writer Reflections: Successful 2011 Paves Way For Better 2012
Another year has been recorded into the books and many of us can look back and reflect what has happened good and bad in our lives and think, what if? As long as we can sit and ponder things differently, the truth is that nothing we can do will alter the past.
What we can do is look at the past mistakes and achievements and use that instance as motivation to make a difference in 2012.
Looking back over this sport that we all enjoy at some degree or another, it is important to note one thing – MMA is growing into what it was set forth to be by Dana White and the Fertitta brothers. Where there have been some to criticize or do things their own way to detract Zuffa on its course, nobody can deny the truth when people refer to the UFC as the major leagues of MMA. It is the premier promotion for the world’s best to compete and paves the way for positive public endorsement and acceptance.
Growing with the sport are the outlets and industries that support it. Media, clothing, supplements, entertainment, almost anything that can be branded with some type of fighter or fighting connection is almost anywhere you look.
Writers, photographers and videographers all have become a part of the mass journalism as well. We dedicate our time and efforts to bring the coverage to you as a fan, fighter, or interested party. We thank you as a site and I thank you personally as a writer for your support and continued viewing of contributions submitted here,
Knowing that the fight game is as tough mentally as it can be physically, credit is deserved for everyone involved within this sport who gives of themselves for its success. This weekend is really the definition of what the sport has become; one the Western hemisphere you have two heavyweight giants getting ready to fight for supremacy inside of a cage, utilizing their own specific combat sports specialties for the win. Brock Lesnar is decorated in wrestling, a sport that is traced back to the ancient Greek Olympic Games, where his opponent Alistair Overeem is a world class striker, utilizing man’s first and most primitive weapon, his fists.
Across the world in Japan, two other heavyweights clash in a test of wills and talent when Fedor Emelianenko will fight against Satoshi Ishii in the DREAM NYE main event. These two are both Judo trained and looking for submission wins, their arts date back to the country where they will perform in front of thousands in attendance and to millions watching all over the globe.
Purchasing the bouts, wearing the clothes and practicing in the arts all are outlets for one to express their love for MMA and combat sports in general. As the sport grows, we at US Combat Sports and me personally, will grow as writers and journalists to bring you the professional and expert coverage, you as fans deserve.
Thank you for all the support over 2011, have a safe and enjoyable New Year and please continue to follow us in 2012!
