Pat Bennett Fights Alexander Volkov to a Controversial Draw
Team Bombsquad heavyweight and upstate New Yorker Pat Bennett scored an improbable draw at M-1 Challenge 22 today in Moscow, Russia. Bennett, a finalist at the M-1 Selection series in Atlantic City, New Jersey, was a late addition to the Moscow card with a bout against Alexander Volkov. Volkov enjoyed some initial striking success, stumbling Bennett with a head kick early on. But the physically more powerful former wrestler quickly went back to his roots with gusto, taking down and neutralizing Volkov for the majority of every round. The bout was one of the least crowd pleasing of the night, with Volkov sitting ineffectually in guard while Bennett pounded away from top position for the vas... -

TUF Season 12 Semifinals Recap
Another season of “The Ultimate Fighter” is in the books, and all that’s left is the fighting. This week’s season finale saw the two match-ups that will determine who gets to fight for a UFC contract during Saturday’s “The Ultimate Finale.” The first semifinal bout pitted Team GSP teammates Jonathan Brookins and Kyle Watson against each other. While Watson had the edge in overall experience, Brookins dominated the fight from the onset. Brookins scored a series of takedowns on Watson in round one and almost finished the fight by unleashing a barrage of fists. But the horn saved the more experienced fighter for another round. Watson's trip to round two proved to be futile, as Brookins ... -
Ronald Canestrari Against MMA, Claims to Have Heard Nothing from Local Businesses
With the battle to sanction mixed martial arts in New York starting anew in January, New York State Assembly Majority leader Ronald Canestrari has officially come out against the regulation of the sport. Canestrari made it clear that his issue is not with any particulars of the bill to sanction MMA, but with the sport itself. The sport appears to me to be too barbaric,” said the Majority Leader. “I think if boxing came up today, we'd vote against that, too. But that's already here and part of the culture.” Canestrari's stance has been echoed before with MMA's most vocal opponent in New York, Assemblyman Bob Reilly. However, a peculiar aspect of the Majority Leader'... -
