Bellator Season Five Welterweight Tourny Begins in Atlantic City
Tournament-style MMA promotion Bellator FC announced this week that they will be returning to Caesar's Palace in Atlantic City, New Jersey, for the inaugural event of their fifth season. Bellator 49 on September 10 will mark not just the start of the fifth season, but also the beginning of the promotion's third welterweight tournament. At its last stop in New Jersey, Bellator headlined the event with a feature bout between middleweight champion Hector Lombard and Falaniko Vitale. New York MMA Bill Passes Another Committee by Unanimous Decision
The bill to sanction mixed martial arts in the state of New York passed it's second hurtle in the State Assembly today as it passed through the Codes Committee by a unanimous vote. While UFC President Dana White tweeted that the vote was 17-1, the Assembly Clerks' office reported that all members voted in favor.
