Grapplers Quest, one of the world's largest grappling submission tournaments, will host a superfight featuring New Jersey native and Ultimate Fighting Championship and Bellator veteran Kurt "Batman" Pellegrino against former lightweight title contender Joe "Daddy" Stevenson on Saturday, July 21. The event will also distribute $14,250 in cash and prizes for the 2012 U.S. National Championships, sponsored by Gaspari Nutrition, when the tournament invades the William G. Marine Boxing Team at Camp Pendleton Ordered Shut Down
The Marine Corps, known as the world's most premier fighting force, filled with more than 236 years of military tradition, ironically just shut down one of its bases' boxing teams because it was deemed too violent. Camp Pendleton, located in Oceanside, California, disbanded their boxing team by order of Marine Corps Sports Headquarters at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia on July 10. Head coach Staff Sgt. Kenneth Jones announced the Corps' decision via Facebook last week. -
