Matt Horwich is an Animal (Updated)
Update: This article previously stated that Matt Horwich had "no problem" with dolphins in captivity, but he wanted to add the distinction that this is provided that the captive dolphins have not been purchased from slaughterers. We apologize for any confusion. For the first time in his 43-fight, seven-year-long fighting career, UFC-veteran Matt Horwich will fight in Texas this Friday when he takes on Danillo Villefort at Shark Fights 14 in Amarillo. When asked what comes to mind when he thinks of Texas, Horwich immediately speaks of deserts, forests, beaches and gila monsters. Along with being self-aware, humans can often be quite self-centered and quick to forget about the int... -
Shark Fight 14 Main Card Preview
In less than three years, the Amarillo, Texas-based Shark Fights has established itself as a major national draw, and this Friday's event, headlined by UFC-vets Matt Horwich and Danillo Villefort and broadcasting live on HDNet, is just one more reason why. Unfortunately, a compelling rematch between James Irvin and Houston Alexander collapsed when Irvin's tests from a fight in December came back positive for steroids. Instead, two of the most recognizable female fighters, Tara LaRosa and Carina Damm will consummate a grudge match in the co-main. Shark Fights 14's whopping 15-fight lineup should still provide an entertaining night, the results of which may resonate in the Oct... -

Bellator Welterweight Victories Turn Tournament into East Coast Affair
Last night, tournament-style MMA promotion Bellator made its MTV-2 debut with the first round of its season four welterweight tournament. After all four of the quarterfinal bouts were decided, the welterweight tournament became the first event of its magnitude to be an entirely east coast affair. The tournament opening round proved a good one for The Empire State, as Manhattan local and former Bellator welterweight champion Lyman Good along with long-time Long Island native and MMA veteran Jay Heiron both advanced with dominant victories over their opponents. Bostonian Judo Olympian Rick Hawn also earned a decisive win. The odd man out, Kentuckian Brent Weedman, still locates his home and f... -

Just hours after Dennis Hallman pulled out of a UFC Fight Night 24 match up with T.J. Waldburger (13-5), as reported by MMAJunkie.com, Team Takedown member Johny Hendricks has stepped up. "Dennis Hallman is out of UFC Fight Night March 26 with a knee injury," UFC president Dana Whiteannounced in last night's official release. "Powerful wrestler Johny Hendricks has verbally agreed to replace him against submission specialist T.J. Waldburger in a preliminary fight."
