Gladiators Fighting - THUNDERDOME Pro Card Highlights
The pro card for last Saturday’s Gladiators Fighting 52 – Thunderdome kicked off with what I thought would be, well, a kickboxing match. Neutral Ground’s Jay “The Silent Assassin” Ellis attempted to take down Team Blast’s Mike “The Volt” Vaughn early in round one, but Vaughn’s Jiu-Jitsu proved to be superior, ending the welterweight bout quickly with an arm bar from the guard. -
Fighter Interview: Racine's Nick Agallar of Agallar Combative Systems
I recently caught up with Nick Agallar after the last Freestyle Combat Challenge show in Racine two weeks ago. I had the opportunity to talk to him about his fight that night with Shane MacDonald in front of his hometown crowd. We also discussed the Art of War television show, in which he is a captain of the GI team and his upcoming fight with Chris Brennan in the season finale. Also, if you haven’t heard, Agallar is opening his own gym in Racine called ACS or Agallar Combative Systems. We discussed how that will affect his future with the Freestyle Academy and lastly, we talk about up and comers from the Kenosha, Racine, and Waukegan area. -

Gladiators Thunderdome Amateur Card Action
The Gladiators Thunderdome amateur card started with a submission grappling match between Justin Bailey of Badgerland Jiu-Jitsu in Madison taking on Neutral Grounds Luke Summerfield of Cedarburg who is the #2 Wisconsin Combat Sports ranked grappler in the 170lb welterweight class. The two grapplers got into a war of foot locks, each twisting and wrenching on each others feet but neither man would tap. In a rarely seen submission, Summerfield gave up position to secure a no gi baseball choke to finish Bailey at the 3:55 mark. -

Jake Kuester of Serrano’s Combat Gym looks to avenge loss at Gladiators 52: Thunderdome
Jake Kuester of Adrian Serranos Combat Gym has a four fight win streak under his belt and had earned himself a shot at the very respectable Gladiators Fighting Series welterweight title. He was set to square off against the current champion Jesse Lennox of Miletich Fighting Systems, however Lennox suffered his first loss and a somewhat serious knee injury in his IFL debut in April. Calls were made and a number of Wisconsins top welterweights were asked to take the fight and all turned down a fight against the rising star who was gaining a reputation for being a straight badass in the cage. -

Pound for Pound: DREAM Come True
You eff see isnt the only flavor of mixed martial arts, you know. In fact, there exists a land far, far away, where men with names like Dong and Hellboy fightbeforefans who dont bray like cows after two seconds of inactivity. These men compete in tournaments, a format that the UFC abandoned long ago. A downed position is no safe harbor from knees to the head, and matches are divided into a 10-minute first round and 5-minute final round. Only in dreams, you say? You dont know how right you are...
