KOTC Total Destruction - US Combat Sports

On Saturday January 21, King of the Cage: Total Destruction will descend upon the Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. Headlining the card is a lightweight title bout between Oklahoman Tye Brown and current champion Tim Means.

Brown is the challenger with an 8-2 record posting a win over David Roberts in his King of the Cage debut back in September. Means has held the title since late 2010 and is riding a six-fight win streak. This will be his third title defense as he looks to extend his win streak to seven.

The co-main event of the night features fellow Oklahoman Bill Albrecht defending his welterweight title against former champion Dom O’Grady.  Albrecht won the title in his last fight against David Gomez and will look to successfully defend that title against a strong Dom O’Grady.

With his win over Gomez, Albrecht extended his win streak in King of the Cage to four. O’ Grady was the former welterweight champion. After winning that title he unsuccessfully attempted to capture the lightweight title. Having returned to the welterweight division he has won his last two and looks to take home the belt with him again on Saturday.

The undercard is stacked with several exciting fights. Treston Thomisson is again stepping into the cage to hopefully move to 5-0 against Mike Maldonado. While making his professional debut, Maldonado went 6-0 as an amateur with five of his six wins coming but submission.

These two fighters match up well as Thomisson was 7-0 as an amateur with all his wins coming by submission. Three out of his four professional fights have also ended by submission.

Former HIT Squad member and Strikeforce fighter Cortez Coleman is making his King of the Cage debut in hopes of bouncing back from a loss in his last fight. He will face off against Terrell Thomas. Thomas sports a mediocre 3-4 record while Coleman boasts a 7-2 record and has fought on the bigger stage. Recently US Combat Sports caught up with Coleman who said he is ready to get back into the cage after a nine-month layoff. He has his eye on the King of the Cage title and from there the UFC.

The reminder of this fight card will not disappoint and features several notable Oklahomans including Liz Carreiro, Ryan McCurdy and David Roberts. The full fight card is below.
