UFC Veteran Rodney Wallace and Aaron Johnson Headline Renais...

Fight Party, one of the south's longest running and most prestigious MMA promotions, will be the first sanctioned professional mixed martial arts fight to take place in Montgomery, Alabama when it invades the Convention Center on Saturday.

Packed with five professional bouts, two advanced contests, and three amateur fights Fight Party is to be headlined by three-time Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Rodney "Shonuff" Wallace against Aaron "Tex" Johnson in the 185-pound division.

The night's main event, which will put the organization's middleweight title up for grabs, is surrounded by rumors that a possible UFC contract is also on the line for the winner of Wallace vs. Johnson.

In the co-main event local war hero Lee "Leatherneck" Stuckey returns home to Montgomery. While he now resides in Shorty, just down the road from his old stomping grounds, Stuckey trains at Guerilla Fitness. The man on his third tour in the Marine Corps will challenge Rush MMA's Aaron Hall.

Guerilla Fitness will have four fighters in this weekend's battle. Cody Carter will take on Ramey Ayala of Port St. Lucie,Maurice Jones will challenge Brandon Lovette of Fear None, and Demarcus Sharpe will stand across from Carl Brown of NF Fight Team.

Brad Charland of SWATS MMA challenges Rock Georges of Port St. Lucie; Charland's debut fight was in early May at AXC 3 where Charland lost to Seth Burgett via elbow choke. Charland took the loss well and vowed to come on back and not let this happen again. In a prior interview, Charland said he could not wait and was energetic and excited about getting back into the cage.

Chris Craft out of Huntsville is a decorated amateur fighter looking to find the same level of success in the pro ranks. After beginning his pro career with two straight defeats, Craft gets set to face Kevin Smith of Rush MMA. In the past we have seen strong things from Rush and if history repeats itself Smith will put on a great show this weekend.

Fear None Gym out of Cullman also has a few dogs in this hunt as Daniel Watts returns to the cage against Mike Dubois of Team Reality. Kamrin Naville from Valdosta, Georgia was slated to take on Daniel Watts from Huntsville, but Naville broke his nose in practice this past week and was replaced by Dubois.

Nearly an hour and a half away on the same night Sportfight X will be hosting their second fight in Alabama of 2012. Depending on where you live -- or which fighter is your favorite -- this weekend will prove that MMA is here to stay in Alabama.
