Warfield to fight Yves Edwards at Shine Fight II
The Heavy Hitter gets the opportunity he's always wanted.
According to Chosen Few Gym co-owner and manager Pat O'Malley, James "The Unbreakable Heavy Hitter" Warfield will take on Yves Edwards at "Shine Fight II: American Top Team vs. The World".
Warfield, who holds an impressive 15-3 record with 14 knockouts, will be looking to showcase his much talked about talent when he takes on the widely known Edwards. Warfield owns victories over Victor Moreno, Demi Deeds, and Ted Worthington but a victory over Yves Edwards would clearly be the biggest of his career.
Warfield last fought at Madtown Throwdown 20 where he defended his Lightweight Championship Belt versus Brian Learn. After a few flashy Taekwondo kicks in the first minute, Warfield went high again, this time connecting and sending Learn to the canvas for the KO victory.
He's now hoping to take that momentum down to the James L. Knight Center in Miami on September 4th.
Warfield is excited to say the least. "I was trembling," he said. "Things like this don't happen to me."
Edwards (34-15-1) was once a top contender in the UFC's lightweight division. The American Top Team fighter holds victories over Josh Thomson and Rich Clementi as well as two victories each over Aaron Riley and Hermes Franca.
He also holds a victory over Wisconsin's own Nick Agallar at UFC 45. Recently, the 32 year old Edwards has suffered a few setbacks with losses in 7 of his last 11 fights coming in promotions such as: Strikeforce, Elite-XC and Bodog Fight.
Shine Fight II can be seen on an online pay-per-view stream via Shine's official website. The online feed will be available for a starting price of $14.95. A pre-sale that begins August 21st will bring the price down to just $9.95. The main event features Brazilians Jorge Patino and Roan Carneiro and showcases members of the Florida-based American Top Team academy taking on fighters from around the world.
