V3 Fights: Medina earns Submission of Night, Meeks gets KO ...

Another great night of mixed martial arts action went down at Marathon Music Works this past Saturday night, May 11, in Tennessee. Two champions successfully defended their V3 titles and the organization crowned a new champion as well.

The USCS Fight of the Night, hands down goes to Manny Trujillo and Langston Stevenson as these two warriors battled it out back and forth for two and a half rounds, which ultimately ended when Trujillo took the win via TKO over Stevenson.

The USCS Submission of the Night was awarded Jorge Medina for his rear naked choke on Adam Nash, which forced Nash to tap in round one.

The USCS Knockout of the Night award goes to heavy-handed heavyweight Brian Meeks. Meeks KO'd undefeated fighter, Pete Pirtle in just 29 seconds of the first round with some massive blows knocking him to the ground.

The surprise of the night came during a matchup between former University of Alabama National Champion, Eryk Anders and current V3 title holder and University of West Alabama star running back, Josh Senkbeil. Anders came out the victor in this bout at 43 seconds into round one.

Senkbeil was caught with a straight left hand and went down. He did get back up but then was hit with a barrage of left/ right combos by Anders.

USCS reporters were told Senkbeil got cut under both eyes and the referee stopped the fight. This was one fight that that was expected to go to the judges but Anders would have none of that and went all out to prove he was the champion and deserved the belt.

What’s next for Anders?

The National Football champion will be back in the cage this summer once again for Strikehard Productions either back in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham before he signs on as a professional fighter and continue to rise thru the ranks. Anders did tell Strikehard he wanted his next fight for them to be against the “best In the country” and if anyone wants to step up, he is game.

What’s next for Senkbeil?

Senkbeil stated to USCS earlier in the week he will not continue in football and wants to continue his mma career.

V3Fights has already scheduled their next event for June 15 at Minglewood Hall in Memphis, TN.
