Fans and competitors alike were excited over the weekend to see Neutral Ground owner and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt Jon "White Trash" Friedland competing within the Combat Corner Grappling Championship 170-pound and below absolute division.

But in his trip back to competition Friedland ran into tough Iowan John Gutta. Training out of Hawkeye BJJ in Iowa City, the purple belt proved to be an animal on the mat taking home the absolute title as well as the 185-pound purple belt class.
