Green Bay Welcomes Rilion Gracie Jiu Jitsu Association
When people hear the name Carlos Gracie Sr. they think about the sprawling tradition in the sport of Jiu Jitsu. The Gracie family has helped foster and spread the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from the southern hemisphere all the way into the frozen tundra of Green Bay with the opening of the Rilion Gracie Jiu Jitsu Association.
The Rilion Gracie organization has become prevalent in the United States with their two main schools in Houston and in Miami. It is in these two gyms that Rilion, son of Carlos Gracie, spends his days teaching students every aspect of Jiu Jitsu from rolling, to eating habits, and more importantly the mindset.
This is what attracted Brady Buckman, instructor at the Green Bay Rilion Gracie Association, to the association. Buckman has spent years practicing MMA along with Jiu Jitsu but discovered a new part of himself when training with Gracie. Buckman spent multiple years at the Rilion Gracie Association in Miami learning all he could from Master Gracie. While there Buckman was promoted a grand total of 13 times earning him the rank of brown belt with 3 strips.
Along with teaching the skills that he learned from Gracie and the other teachers at the association in Miami, Buckman is looking to pass on the mentality that goes along with this style of Jiu Jitsu. As proclaimed on their site, this mindset was the” missing element in Brady’s lifelong study of martial arts”.
The Rilion Gracie Association in Green Bay has classes for all age groups and skill levels. From beginner and advanced courses in Jiu Jitsu to kickboxing, the association is looking to expand the Green Bay community’s knowledge of the historic lifestyle.
