Jimmy Zidek Meets Bellator Veteran Nick Kirk at Downtown Showdown 9 in Minnesota
Over the past two years the increase in ability for Jimmy Zidek has been evident. Following a slow start to his career that saw him drop four of his first five bouts, "The Daywalker" has drastically improved winning three straight and ultimately bringing his record to 7-6.
But despite having already faced tough competitors such as Klay Konrad, Morgan Sickinger, and others, Zidek is set to face off against his biggest challenge to date in the form of Minnesota prospect Nick Kirk at "Downtown Showdown 9" in Minneapolis on August 18.
Kirk, who trains out of The Academy in Minnesota, has exploded onto the scene since making his professional debut in March of 2010. With victories over familiar opponents like Brian Learn and Tony Belvedere, "The Big Hurt" recently fought his way into the nationally recognizable Bellator organization earlier this year.
Although Kirk suffered a unanimous decision defeat in his debut to David Harris, the Minnesota-based fighter bounced back with a victory over Chris Befera last month. His record now stands at an impressive 8-1 as he continues his march towards another shot on the national landscape.
Throughout their careers Kirk and Zidek have faced two of the same opponents in Befera and Learn. Kirk bested both Learn and Befera whereas Zidek suffered first round defeats. Nevertheless, the impending August matchup pits two streaking fighters intent on continuing their success within the 135-pound weight class.
