  • Jackson’s MMA Series X Lineup Announced with Levya vs. Birchak Headlining

    The Jackson’s Series will present their second show in their new venue, Tingley Coliseum at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds. Headlining the show is fast rising fighter Matt Leyva, 9-2, who has considerable experience fighting on the Jackson’s Series. Leyva has headlined and co-mained the series before, each time pulling out a win in dramatic fashion. On December 1st he’ll headline Series X against Anthony Birchak who boasts his own impressive record of 8 wins to one loss. Birchak represents Apex MMA out of Tucson, AZ. and is known for a crafty submission game. This is sure to be an action packed main event preceded by nine equally exciting pro and amateur match ups.

    Keep your eye on Brenda Gonzales (3-0 of FIT NHB in Albuquerque), undefeated in both MMA and boxing, and the new King of the Cage Female 125-lb Champion. This woman is on her way up. Originally from Moriarty, NM, Gonzales was always into sports, playing baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball in high school, and spending much of her free time in the gym. It was about three years ago that she had her first taste of combat sports, when she visited FIT NHB for the first time, at the invitation of her boyfriend (and now fiancé) UFC fighter Tim "The Dirty Bird" Means.     Fight news has been relatively nonexistent for Unified Martial Arts welterweight Lenny Nelson after an injury canceled his anticipated rematch with Andrew Trace at Madtown Throwdown 28 earlier this year. But how quickly things can change. According to UMA coach Mike Biddle, "Smash" has agreed to face Strikeforce veteran Tyler Stinson at C3 Fights: "Armageddon 2012" in Newkirk, Oklahoma on December 1. Set to headline a strong C3 Fights card that also features a bantamweight championship bout between Brandon Shelton and Ryan Axtell, Stinson and Nelson will be competing for the organization's welterweight title.
