  • Is Strikeforce All But Dead?

    Strikeforce President Scott Coker has been reluctant to discuss the distant future of Strikeforce, however, MMA theorists and hardcore fans have been quick to draw a conclusion. The theory is that now that the UFC parent company Zuffa owns Strikeforce and the contracts to its fighters, the organization will eventually be run to the ground. In the past UFC would dismantle their competition by strategically placing restrictions on sponsors, cross-promotion, and scheduling televised events the same night as a rival organization on another network.
  • USCS Fight of the Week: Jon Jones Meets Lyoto Machida at UFC 140

    In a year that has seen the UFC deliver memorable fights, impressive championship wins and seemingly impossible knockouts, everything comes to a head on Saturday when light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defends his belt against former champion Lyoto Machida. After winning the belt from Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128, Jones has looked better in every outing and seems to be delivering the wins with ease. Machida snapped a two-fight losing streak in April by retiring Randy Couture via jumping front kick. When these two men stand across from one another in the Octagon in Toronto, true martial arts skill will be displayed in the USCS Fight of the Week.

    If I told you that you three years ago that Brock Lesnar was set to meet Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 you’d probably be surprised. If also told you then that you could watch the fight on an Xbox, you probably woudn’t have believed me. Just in time for Christmas, XBox will become the ultimate place to watch live UFC pay-per-view events. Starting Dec. 20 XBox Live will launch UFC with access to live event videos and a catalog of videos on demand, an interactive fight card, a fight prediction game, and pay-per-view events, all of which are available in high-definition.
