  • Sam Alvey's TUF Blog: Mike Ricci and Jon Manley Earn Victories

Hello again to everyone that reads these wonderfully written, behind the Ultimate Fighter scenes exclusives with me Smile'N Sam Alvey. This week's episode led off with the two nicest guys in the house squaring off in the octagon Jon Manly and Joe Rivera. Let me tell you, both of these guys really didn't want to fight each other. Jon had a ton of respect for Joey, and Joey knew how good Jon's ground game was, and this led to a fight that Dana was not to impressed with but Jon did pull out the win and will be moving onto the semi finals. The build up for the fight between the Canadians was a little bigger and the fight a little faster paced. Hill and Ricci were "budd...

  • Will XFC 21 Main Event Title Fight Pitting Nick Newell vs. Eric Reynolds Be a Fight of the Year Candidate?

XFC 21: Night of Champions II is set to be the promotion's biggest event of the year and will feature a lightweight championship main event between Nick Newell and Eric Reynolds. Both fighters have put together three straight wins in the XFC cage and are now headed to Nashville, Tennessee for the biggest fights of their careers live on AXStv. Newell entered the XFC cage for the first time in late 2011, after attending the XFC Open Fighter Tryouts. He took the MMA word by storm with an ankle lock submission in the early minutes of the first round over Denis Hernandez. The St. Pete Times Forum erupted with applause as Newell put a storybook ending to his Tribute fight, in honor of Abi Me...

  • Sam Alvey's TUF Blog: The Semifinals Matched

So this week's episode started with an explanation from Mr. Snake about his bite heard around the world. He came back stage after the fight and told all of us "I may be a piece of Sh!t for it but I bit him and I did it intentional, I just really didn't want to lose." We all thought it was a weird thing to do but none of us really faulted him for doing it. However, Dana did. Dana was furious that someone would stoop so low as to cheat like that on his show, but he did give Snake the chance to explain himself and Snake told him the same thing he told us. Dana was still upset but he forgave him, and all was back to being right in the world. Now fast forward a day or two an...
  • Luciano Dos Santos Joins XFC Lightweight Mix

Luciano Dos Santos will join the XFC Lightweight division after inking a multi-fight deal with the promotion. Dos Santos was featured in the main event of XFC 17, when he faced off with the top contender in the Lightweight Division, Eric Reynolds. That bout ended in a close decision with Reynolds coming out on top, but proved to XFC President John Prisco that Dos Santos can go the distance with one of the XFC's best, something only two other fighters have ever been able to do. Dos Santos is the Muay Thai coach at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, one of the top MMA schools in the country, which says a lot about his stand up capabilities. Fighting professionally in Brazil since 2006,...

  • Sam Alvey's TUF Blog: 'I will leave everything in that Octagon or die trying'

Well this week's episode was chock-full of everything, and it all started with Dana's "coming to Jesus moment" he had with us in the house. We all hoped it was going to be with some good news... It wasn't. He came and we all ended up just about crying by the end of it. He told us all that we suck, we are terrible, and that we will likely not be fighting on the finale. I would be lying if I told you it didn't scare the hell out of me because it did. Some of the members of our house didn't take it so seriously though. Ricci just ignored it saying he was just trying to scare us and the win is all that is important. Bristol told us Dana gave the same speech a...
