Last night on UFC reality television series The Ultimate Fighter, the show took an uncharacteristic break from the back room drama in order to show two full bouts in the feather and bantamweight divisions. USCS's own MMA Mom Lynne McCreary continues her blog series on the show with a two part breakdown of the fights, the first featuring her son, Dennis Bermudez: In tonight’s show there was not only one, but two fights. • Is Frankie Edgar Ahead of GSP and Jon Jones on Pound-For-Pound Best List?

The third fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard at UFC 136 was once again magnificent. But perhaps the most intriguing aspect that emerged from the fight was Dana White's take on the sport's pound-for-pound rankings. If you are still in the dark, White stated that current lightweight champion Edgar is the number two pound-for-pound fighter in the world,“I don’t care who disagrees, you are wrong and I’m right. He (Edgar) is the number two pound-for pound fighter in the world, period,” White said. So what does pound-for-pound really mean and where does the 155-pound dynamo stand?

The 8-3 Kirwan is coming off of a loss, even though it was to one of the greatest submission artists the region has ever produced, and is inflating himself up from featherweight to fight Nazare at 155. Nazare has appeared on Bellator main cards before and is a darling of the organization for his fast paced fights and exciting finishes. Another week of the fourteenth season of UFC reality show The Ultimate Fighter has come to a close and USCS's own MMA Mom Lynne McCreary continues her blog as she follows the show and her son, Dennis Bermudez, as he journey's through it: Team Bisping got right into their revenge prank as the week opened. Bisping reasoned that since Mayhem like tires so much, referring to last week's prank filling Bisping's locker room with tires, he'll give him some tires. The coaches of Team Bisping proceeded to strip all four tires off of Mayhem's Dodge Charger and place them in Team Mayhem's locker room. Mayhem thinks this is "pretty clever, I gave him tires so he gave me tires."
  • Edgar Versus Maynard 3: The Template For Creating an MMA Narrative

Though the weekend of October 8 promises an explosive array of MMA events across the country, all have fallen under the shadow of the UFC 136 headlining rubber match between Gray Maynard and Jersey's own Frankie Edgar. The third clash between the two lightweight greats stands unique in the world of mixed martial arts, as even the UFC title belt, the most coveted bauble in the sport, has taken a back seat to settling the conflict between the fighters. Mayweather's fourth round knockout victory during what appeared to be a reset has sent rumblings through the boxing community on both the legality and the sportsmanship involved in the win.
