  • Scott “The Animal” Heckman at Toys for Tots Event this Saturday

    One of the northeastern Pennsylvania's brightest young mixed martial arts stars, Scott "The Animal" Heckman will be kicking off the holiday spirit this weekend at a Marine Corps Toys for Tots event at Reagle Dodge in Bangor. Heckman (12-3) will be at the car dealership's third annual Toys for Tots kickoff event from 1 – 3 p.m and will be joined by the jolliest of all, Santa Claus himself who will arrive via helicopter. Anyone who brings a brand new unwrapped toy will automatically be entered to win a 2013 Dodge Dart. The Marine Corps Bulldog mascot will be escorted to the event by the Plainfield Township Fire Department.

  • Autism Awareness Inspires New Jersey's Tom DeBlass to Mentor at Grapplers Quest

    Last year Grapplers Quest partnered with AutismRadio.org, to create the "Grappling Autism Charity Seminar Series" in order to help raise funds for Autism Awareness. Grapplers Quest gives proceeds to AutismRadio, a non-profit (501c3) charitable organization who developed the first Autism Family Support, Diet, and Treatment Radio Network, a program that help families cope with the challenges of Autism.   • Who Will Land the First Punch When Bellator Hits Spike?

    When was the last time you as a fan got to actually pick and choose a fight card lineup? Probably never, but now you can. Bellator Fighting Championships, the fast rising competitor to the UFC, will make the switch to the television network Spike in January. Spike, the former home of the UFC, started showcasing one behind the scenes in-depth looks at four different welterweight fighters each Thursday evening in November starting November 8.
  • Decorated Amateur Wrestler Shawn Bunch to Make MMA Debut Against Chad Coon at Bellator 82

    Former Olympic hopeful Shawn Bunch came up a match short of representing the United States of America in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Bunch transitioned from being purely a World competitive amateur Freestyle wrestler to a professional Mixed Martial Artist. Bunch nick named "Bunch the Great", signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator Fighting Championship in June of 2012. The young career of Bunch began when Bellator Fighting Championship CEO Bjorn Rebney took a leap of faith on the former Edinboro University NCAA runner-up and 3-time All-American.   • Cage Titans Glory: Giovanella Stops Bonnell, Anderson TKO's Sanchez (PHOTOS)

    This past weekend Cage Titans made its way to Dorchester, Massachusetts for a card rightfully named, GLORY. Though Glory was only achieved through the hard work and commitment of flagship captain, Michael Polvere. With several main card competitors pulling out due to injury just a week before the event, Polvere was set into search and rescue mode for his brain child, and man did he come through. As everyone made their way into the 103 Union Hall, the lights were dimmed and CageTitans unveiled an epic video compilation of every nostalgic, energetic, and blood pumping moment from everyone's favorite action movies.
  • UFC Veteran Tom DeBlass Retires at the Age of 30

    New Jersey is home to many decorated mixed martial artists, but one name that never really stood out amidst all of his accolades has just announced that he will hang up his five ounce gloves. Tom DeBlass, the UFC's most recently retired middleweight fighter, announced his decision yesterday via Facebook. "After a lot of talk with my family and Coaches I have decided to retire from fighting and focus on my family, my Academy, and helping my students to achieve their goals. I have had the opportunity to win the Pan American games, the No Gi World Championships, and National Championships, the Abu Dhabi trials and compete in Abu Dhabi.
  • College Wrestling: Wisconsin Badgers Upset #25 Hofstra Pride In Season Opener 18-13

    On Sunday afternoon, Nov. 11, the Badgers wrestling hosted No. 25 Hofstra Pride in a non-conference dual in the UW Feld House in Madison, Wisconsin. After an early lead by the Pride, the Badgers bounced back winning six of the final eight matches giving them the lift past the University from Long Island by a score of 18-13. No. 3 Tyler Graff returned to the mat for the first time since the 2010-11 seasons and he won a tough match by a score of 5-3 decision over the No. 13 Pride wrestler Luke Vaith at 141-pounds. Cole Schmitt followed up Graff with a decision victory by overcoming Matt Spataro of Hofstra by a score of 3-0, bringing the team score to 7-6 trailing the Pride by one.
