Aggressive Combat Sports returned to New York last night, May 11, at St. Raymond’s High School in the Bronx with their second installment of Aggressive Combat Championships. Aggressive Combat Sports partnered with the United States Muay Thai Association (USMTA) to sanction this all amateur mixed martial arts competition in the Empire state where professional MMA is still not yet legalized.
The fight card was headlined by a featherweight title matchup between Desmond Nelson and Gerald “Lil Bomb” Javier. The contest was all Javier as he dominated Nelson ending the fight at 2:20 in the first round via a rear-naked-choke submission. ‘Lil Bomb’ was crowned the promotion’s first featherweight champion.

MMA Fighter - PA Trooper - Russo Hammers Out Dog Violence
Pat “The Punisher” Russo, 33, is a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a former police officer in Plainfield, N.J., now a Pennsylvania state trooper and a professional mixed martial artist.
The former Military Police Officer, now a resident of Allentown, PA has been serving on the Pennsylvania state police out of the Belfast for eight years. The hours of his work schedule may vary from time to time, however they follow a pattern of 10 consecutive days on with four days off.
“If I’m not in a patrol car, I’m in the gym” Russo said.
New Jersey’s Calogero Torretta – Youngest Member of USA National Karate Team – Competing at Pan American Karate Championships
New Jersey native, Calogero Torretta, 18, has been training and competing in Karate for more than 15 years.
Next week the New Jerseyan will travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina where he will compete for the United States in the Pan American Karate Championships.
A.C.C. 2 - Amateur MMA returns to New York
Aggressive Combat Sports returns to St. Raymond High School in the Bronx this Saturday, May 11 with Aggressive Combat Sports 2.
The first installment of the all amateur fight series was held in January at the same location. While professional mixed martial arts still is not legal in the Empire State, amateur bouts are permitted with certain regulations.
An Eye for ‘Talent’ - Belcher Tweets Photo of Injury
This past Saturday night at UFC 159, middleweight contender Alan ‘the Talent’ Belcher sustained an unfortunate injury to his previously damaged eye, calling an end to his contest with England’s Michael ‘the Count’ Bisping just 29 seconds before the fight would have concluded and gone to the judges for a decision.
The fight at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey was declared a “technical decision” in favor of Bisping due to the fight being sent to the fate of the judges and referee Herb Dean not allowing Belcher to continue.

Nearly two years after the first cage fight to ever hit Pike County, TriState MMA/BJJ is proud to announce its second mixed-martial arts (MMA) fight, TriState Cage Fight. The event, which will be held on Saturday, May 4, 7 p.m. at the Best Western Inn at Hunt’s Landing in Matamoras, PA, will showcase both local and regional MMA fighters.
“We have been working hard with the athletic commission and our exclusive hotel sponsor, Best Western, over the last ten months to secure a date,” said Harry Brofsky, owner of TriState MMA/BJJ. “There are a lot of moving pieces behind the scenes that need to be ironed out before any cage fight can be orchestrated, especially since our first fight had over 600 hundred attendees and we have no doubt that there will be double the number of people looking to attend. With all the media attention that mixed-martial arts have been receiving with the rise of the UFC, the Ultimate Fighter and other shows, it is surely going to be a night to remember.”
