  • Monsignor Farrell Defeats Chaminade For Second Straight NYS CHSAA Dual-Meet Title

    On Sunday, the New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association (NYS CHSAA) held their 2014 wrestling Dual-Meet Championships at Chaminade High School’s beautiful Activities and Athletic Center facility in Mineola, NY. The Dual-Meet championships involved nine teams from across the Empire State for an action packed five-round tournament. Wrestling began at 9 A.M. on four mats, as defending NYS CHSAA Dual-Meet Champions Monsignor Farrell High School started the day with a bye in the first round. The Lions muscled their way through the tournament to capture their second straight crown.

    The World Series of Fighting on Thursday afternoon hosted an open media workout at the Jaco Hybrid Training center in Boca Raton, Fla., leading into "World Series of Fighting 8: Gaethje vs. Patishnock." Fans and media watched as headliners Justin Gaethje (10-0) and Rich Patishnock (6-1) - as well as main-card competitors Anthony Johnson (15-4), Mike Kyle (20-10-1), Jessica Aguilar (16-4) and Alida Gray (4-0) - worked out and fielded questions in preparation of their fight Saturday night.

    The first weekend in February may go down as one of the biggest sporting weekends in New Jersey State history as on Sunday, Feb. 2, for the first time ever, the National Football League (NFL)’s Super Bowl will be played in a cold weather state (outside of a dome). The teams playing at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford are yet to be determined, and both New Jersey teams have already been eliminated from contention, but that does not matter to football fanatics as this is the first time the big game has ever come to the Garden State.

The result in the outcome of the UFC light heavyweight stint between champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson in September may have rubbed a few fans the wrong way, however, the fight was named USCS’s 2013 Fight of the Year.

    2013 was an amazing year for Pennyslvania based professional mixed martial artist, Rich Patishnock. Patishnock (6-1 as a pro), who trains at Chamber MMA in East Stroudsburg went 2-0 inside the cage defeating two members of the famed Gracie family, Igor and Gregor, but it was what happened on the last day of the year that made those wins more meaningful. Patishnock’s head coach at Chamber MMA, Don Cioffi, received a call from the World Series of Fighting (WSOF), the organization for which Patishnock fights under contract.
