Fight fans around the world got their moneys worth on Saturday night as UFC on Versus 6 showcased Dominick Cruz's further dominance of the bantamweight division, a brutal head kick knockout from Anthony Johnson, and a slam-stuffing triangle via Stefan Struve. Through five rounds Cruz and Demetrius Johnson battled fast and furious. Johnson threw punches and looked for takedowns but Cruz did the same. Things did not exactly go as planned for Victor Ortiz on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Hoping to become the first boxer to hand Floyd Mayweather Jr the first loss of his illustrious boxing career, Ortiz was instead forced to call it an early night, courtesy of a left-right combination by Mayweather. The end came at 2:59 of the fourth round. The high-profile bout was marred with controversy. Just prior to the knockout in the fourthround, Ortiz appeared to head butt Mayweather deliberately. The world’s number one pound-for-pound female boxer (30-1-3 as a boxer) has made an impressive entrance into the world of MMA (2-0). First, she dominated Christina Domke (4-2) with a TKO in the secondround at “Double Threat”, which took place in March of this year, and on Friday night, September 9, at “Clash in the Cage” she defeated Strikeforce fighter Jan “Cuddles” Finney (8-10), in a 135 match that went all the way into the thirdround.
