    On SaturdayDec. 7, a packed house at the Eastside Cannery in Las Vegas, NV was treated to a great night of MMA action as King of the Cage presented their19th installment of Future Legends. In the fourth bout of the evening, welterweight JJ Torres brought the crowd to their feet with the methodical KO of crowd favorite Byron “Smash” Fields. Throughout most of the first round the two picked shots and threw quick combos at one another, barely missing the mark. After a low blow and short break, Fields came out letting his hands fly. Torres landed a clean counter and followed with a combination against the cage putting his opponent to sleep before he even hit the mat.

    Saturday night in Milwaukee Kevin Vazquez delivered a statement victory in his professional debut. The fight took place at the Rave Eagles Club Grand Ballroom. Vazquez fights out of Roufusport and battled Nate Coulliard of Death Row MMA in Appleton. The bout was bumped to the main event after his brother’s (Christian) opponent didn’t show. As the main event, fans that packed the Rave for the NAFC “UNRIVALED” MMA event were not disappointed. The featherweight Roufusport fighter sparred with his foe using a strong jab to counter Coulliard’s wide outside strikes. Delivering several straights and hooks, the Greenfield high school graduate picked apart his opponent on their feet.

(Dec. 7, 2013) – Barb Honchak won a hard-fought, unanimous decision victory to retain the Invicta FC Flyweight World Championship over challenger Leslie Smith in Saturday’s Invicta Fighting Championships 7 at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. Honchak (9-2) and Smith (6-4-1) traded blows in the all-action bout, but it was Honchak’s technical striking and ability to take Smith to the ground and inflict damage that was the difference. All three judges scored the bout 49-46. “I knew Leslie would be tough,” said Honchak, who has won seven fights in a row. “I wanted to take her down because that’s what I’ve been working on.

    The latest Bellator Lightweight Tournament has come to a head, with Tiger Sarnavskiy (25-1) and Will Brooks (12-1) slated to face each other in the final. Brooks won a grueling rematch against Saad Awad (15-6) by taking and keeping the game where he wanted it. The first time they faced one another, earlier this year, Awad KO’d Brooks early in the first round. This time around, Brooks started the action with an immediate takedown into side control; Awad was able to reverse that position to a full mount, but Brooks bucked out, and continued to take the fight to the ground, finishing the first round with Awad in a crucifix.
