  • Sam Alvey's TUF Blog: The Semifinals Matched

So this week's episode started with an explanation from Mr. Snake about his bite heard around the world. He came back stage after the fight and told all of us "I may be a piece of Sh!t for it but I bit him and I did it intentional, I just really didn't want to lose." We all thought it was a weird thing to do but none of us really faulted him for doing it. However, Dana did. Dana was furious that someone would stoop so low as to cheat like that on his show, but he did give Snake the chance to explain himself and Snake told him the same thing he told us. Dana was still upset but he forgave him, and all was back to being right in the world. Now fast forward a day or two an...
  • Why The Big Ten Is the Best Wrestling Conference and Will Repeat as National Champs

The Big Ten is the best conference in college wrestling. Need proof? Last year, Penn State University repeated as National champions and all but three individual champions came from the Big Ten Conference. As well, a Big Ten school has served as National Champion over the past six years. According to NCAA.com's rankings, four out of the top five teams are Big Ten. Oklahoma cracked the top five sliding into third. Eight teams overall are ranked in the polls with six (Minnesota, PSU, Iowa, Illinois, OSU, Nebraska) in the top ten and the last two (Michigan, Northwestern) falling into the 13, 14 ranked spots. At the 2012 NCAA National Championships, Penn State advanced five wrestlers to t...
  • Sam Alvey's TUF Blog: 'I will leave everything in that Octagon or die trying'

Well this week's episode was chock-full of everything, and it all started with Dana's "coming to Jesus moment" he had with us in the house. We all hoped it was going to be with some good news... It wasn't. He came and we all ended up just about crying by the end of it. He told us all that we suck, we are terrible, and that we will likely not be fighting on the finale. I would be lying if I told you it didn't scare the hell out of me because it did. Some of the members of our house didn't take it so seriously though. Ricci just ignored it saying he was just trying to scare us and the win is all that is important. Bristol told us Dana gave the same speech a...
  • NAFC Armageddon Hits Wisconsin State Fair Tomorrow with Two Title Fights and Over 20 Bouts

As Malcolm X once said, "The future belongs to those who prepare for it today." A seemingly simple notion, but one that can often be overlooked in today's "what have you done for me lately?" sports society. One organization determined to prepare youngsters for a promising combative sports future is the North American Fighting Championship. Owned and operated by Duke Roufus and Scott Joffe, the Milwaukee-based promotion is set to host its latest event tomorrow on November 3 at Wisconsin State Fair Park. Set to showcase a full day of Wisconsin's up-and-coming talent through Pankration and amateur mixed martial arts, NAFC "Armageddon" provides the area&...

  • Sam Alvey's TUF Blog: Judges Don't Have Slightest Idea How to Score Fights

In this weeks episode the judges proved once again that they don't have the slightest idea about how to do their job. Before I get too far into that lets recap a little bit: Neil vs Cameron was a decent fight with what almost everyone agrees was a good decision.Sam vs Joey was not really all that controversial but it was a split decision with enough people (me included) saying that a third round would have been nice. Bristol vs Julian was a fight that Bristol won but took way more damage during the course of the fight, a third round could have been used.Igor vs Nick was a controversial decision with even Dana White telling everyone that Nick deserved a third round. Eddy vs Colton was ...
  • Sam Alvey's TUF Blog: The Fart Heard Around The World

So this week was episode five "The Empire (of Carwin) Strikes Back" and it really had no lack of action. The episode started with a brief overview of how last weeks fight went with Julian explaining how he feels right now, and to his credit he really was upset that he lost. Everyone in the house kind of overlooked him as being a threat but he did some real damage to Bristol and was truly shook up that he lost. Then Flash Forward another day it has Julian getting really upset with Secor. When you take a hot head like Julian and put him in a house with a mouth like Secor you know it will get Rough, and this episode was just the tip of the iceberg. For the rest of the season we refe...

  • Sam Alvey's TUF Blog: Marunde Gets Team Carwin Back on Top, Movie Night, and Sleeping in Bed Again

So it has been one week since my minor setback by the hands (or foot) of Joey Rivera. Fear not, this smiling guy is back in action for episode four (“A New Hope - For Carwin’s Team”). The episode starts off with Dana treating the house to a movie night. He bought us popcorn and everything! The little twist of this sequence is that we actually did not see the movie until after the Bristol/Julian fight. Yours truly got a little screen time testifying how good the movie was. Let me tell you, I actually really enjoyed the movie Here Comes the BOOM. I don’t expect it to win any Academy Awards, but if you are looking for a few laughs or something to entertain the kids, then it gets 3.5 out of 5 ...
