Morgan Sickinger was denied his second straight victory over the weekend after dropping a second round submission to Jon "The Beast" Washington at Big Bully MMA in Niles, Ohio. "The Captain" found himself on the receiving end of a guillotine choke less than two minutes into the second round of the Saturday night's main event. The loss places Sickinger's record to 9-6 whereas a victory would have pieced together a winning streak for the Wisconsin native after experiencing a four-fight losing skid.

Both fighters impressed the audience with their ambition to come out of the cage victorious. But after a three round war of blood, sweat, and tears Gauthier edged his hometown foe via split decision. It may not have been the flashiest of fights or ended in spectacular fashion but Sergio Pettis reigned supreme again on Friday night in Milwaukee. Outlasting Chris Haney on the main card of North American Fighting Championship "Colosseum", Pettis raised his undefeated streak to four and emerged victorious in his flyweight debut. Heading into his 125-pound unveiling much of the hype around Pettis centered upon whether or not the 18-year-old was ready to make the leap into the deep waters of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. But "The Phenom" immediately put that talk to rest after his unanimous decision victory over Haney.

Dustin Ortiz hit a speed bump at the North American Fighting Championship "Colosseum" on Saturday night with a split decision loss against Toledo native Josh Robinson. Ortiz, a Strikeforce veteran and major prospect in the flyweight weight class, could not get past Robinson's striking ability Saturday night. Ortiz tried to stand with the longer Robinson and never really seemed as comfortable as normal.

Wisconsin's featherweight division may have their hands full with a rejuvenated Jimmy Zidek. Easily one of the state's most improved fighters, "The Daywalker" has dug himself out of an early hole by earning his fifth win over his last six appearances on Saturday at Madtown Throwdown 27 against Josh Sterry. At the opening bell of the fight these two gladiators had the crowd into the fight as engaging action came with little time passing.
