  • King Grappler 5 Highlights

    Mark Severtson is dead set on turning Madison into a Jiu-Jitsu city. His school, Badgerland BJJC, is fast becoming one of the most respected wrestling/BJJ schools in southern Wisconsin, not to mention one of the winning-est teams in the area (RANKED #11). Mark continues to show his devotion to the sport through King Grappler, a tourney which saw its 5th successful incantation last Saturday (March 15th).
  • WEC 33: Stann vs. Marshall

    Wednesday evening WEC 33 will air on the Versus Network. The card was to be headlined with a rematch of Chael Sonnen vs. Paulo Filho from WEC 32 but that bout was cancelled twice since it was announced Filho checked into a clinic for depression and chemical dependency. The other title fight between Doug The Rhino Marshall vs. Brian Stann has instead taken its place as the headliner of the event. Also, Kenoshas Sergio Gomez of Dave Strassers Freestyle Academy will also fight against Rich Crunkilton on the undercard.

  • Dave Strasser to Return to the Ring at FCC 34 After Two-Year Hiatus From MMA

    Wisconsin MMA Legend and UFC veteran, Dave Strasser will return to action on March 29, 2007 at Freestyle Combat Challenge 34 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I received an e-mail that had been forwarded from Dave Strasser this afternoon verifying the information. When I last saw Dave Strasser at FCC 33 one month ago, I asked him if he was officially retired due to his extended absence from competition. He stated that he was not retired and that he had just been busy with his business and opening a new gym in Illinois.
  • Jameel Massouh to fight on HCF show in Quebec, Canada

    Fresh of his USCS submission of the night victory at Freestyle Combat Challenge 33 last month, Jameel The Real Deal Massouh of Dave Strassers Freestyle Academy is set to fight again on March 29 in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. According to MMA News, Massouh is slated to fight Myles Cowboy Merola of British Columbia, Canada on the Hardcore Championship Fighting card entitled, Crows Nest.

    You guys asked for it and now we have it. Wisconsins first official State MMA Rankings. Chosen by a three person committee each representing different parts of the state The USCS Rankings will be released quarterly and ranking criteria is as follows:

    Its time once again for King Grappler. The USCS 2007 grappling event of the year returns to the Salvation Army gym in Madison, WI for its 5th incantation this Saturday. King Grappler won the title of Best Grappling Event amidst stiff competition last year, but organizer Mark Severtson (of Badgerland BJJ) has already promised to step it up even more this year, and boasting two superfights, plush 2 mats and stacked competition, King Grappler looks to deliver.
  • Solomon Hutcherson vs. George Allen

    Former Racine resident and Freestyle Academy student, Solomon Hutcherson (8-4) is slated fight George A-Dog Allen (12-13-1) on Friday, March 28 according to OTM. The fight will take place at the USMC Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, in an event called the East Coast Championship Unleashed. As you may remember from my previous article, Solomon Hutcherson was slated to fight Pride veteran Amir Rahnavardi in Canadas Hardcore Championship Fighting on February 1, 2008 in Calgery, Alberta, Canada. Hutcherson was not allowed to enter Canada due to not having a passport and the fight was therefore cancelled according to Sherdog.
