Not only do the series fighters have success in TUF, but multiple fighters have been signed by Zuffa for either the UFC or Strikeforce. This list includes fighters like Henry Martinez, Julie Kedzie, Isaac Valle-Flagg, Lionel Lanham, Willie Parks and Sarah D'Alelio.

  • Sarah Alpar Earns 1st KOTC 125 Female Champ,

    The inaugural King of the Cage Female 125-lb belt has its first champion in Sarah “Too Sweet” Alpar (4-1 out of Scorpion’s Lair in Amarillo, TX). Alpar gained the title after a fierce and close battle with FIT NHB’s Monica Lovato (5-3), at King of the Cage: Nightmare, which went down at Buffalo Thunder Casino Resort, just north of Santa Fe, NM on May 12, 2012.

  • Strikeforce's Vallie-Flagg Ready to Face Cavalcante

    Strikeforce fighter, Isaac Vallie-Flagg (12-3-1 of Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA) will be fighting as a lightweight for the first time in Strikeforce against Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante (16-4-1, Imperial Athletics) at the Strikeforce “World Grand Prix” on Saturday, May 19, on Showtime. Vallie-Flagg made his Strikeforce debut as a last minute replacement against Brian Melancon in the welterweight class last June. Winning that fight by way of split decision has in turn earned him a 4-fight contract with Strikeforce.

  • Wheeler Comes Home to Cheers Despite Lackluster Performance

     

    Saturday May 12th several Albuquerque fighters made their way to the Inn at the Mountain Gods on the Mescalero Apache reservation, High in the mountains of Ruidoso, to take part in the Mescalero Warrior Challenge 2. The fight promotion is a collaboration between Mescalero’s favorite son Coty “Ox” Wheeler and Jackson’s Gym General Manager Ricky Kottenstette. This was their second sold out show which provided exposure for several fighters from neighboring states alongside those from the 505.

    The single leg seatbelt toss isn't a recommended first hand move to use in an arsenal attacking your foe. However, it is a technique that can create uncertainty next time an opponent decides to use a whizzer defending a single leg attack.

    You've seen his face in photos and videos next to the biggest stars in the UFC, Strikeforce and Bellator, holding mitts or coaching from the corner. His name is Brandon Gibson, and he is the assistant striking coach at Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA.

    A native New Mexican, with NM roots on both sides of his family, he grew up in the Southeast Albuquerque. Gibson was always interested in martial arts, even as a child, practicing on things and people.

    Seeing that he needed an outlet for his excess energy, his parents signed him up at Ed Erler's Martial Arts & Karate when he was six-years-old. Since that time, there has not been any period of time longer than one month, in which he has not trained at one dojo or another.
