The card is headlined by Bellator Fighting Championships veterans and local MMA standout, Scott "the Animal" Heckman (12-3) vs. Ralph Acosta (10-6).   • Madtown Throwdown 29: Eric Schafer vs. John Poppie Pegged as Main Event

    For the first time in more than four years, Eric "Red" Schafer is set to compete in a mixed martial arts bout within his home state of Wisconsin. The nine-fight veteran of the UFC has agreed to square off against John Poppie as part of a stacked Madtown Throwdown 29 card on January 5. Madtown owner and promoter Pat O'Malley confirmed the news to US Combat Sports late Wednesday night. Schafer, who has competed within the UFC more than any fighter hailing from Wisconsin, will enter the Madtown Throwdown cage looking to buck a two-fight losing streak that he suffered at the hands of Jorge Rivera and Aaron Simpson.
