  • Former UFC LHW Champ Tito Ortiz Arrested in California

    Former Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion and Mixed Martial Artist, Tito Ortiz was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence after a single-car collision in West Los Angeles, Calif., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said in a press release. The popular athlete, whose birth name is Jacob Christopher Ortiz, was taken into custody around 4:00 a.m. after his car crashed on the 405 Freeway near Sepulveda and Santa Monica boulevards, the CHP said.

    2013 was an amazing year for Pennyslvania based professional mixed martial artist, Rich Patishnock. Patishnock (6-1 as a pro), who trains at Chamber MMA in East Stroudsburg went 2-0 inside the cage defeating two members of the famed Gracie family, Igor and Gregor, but it was what happened on the last day of the year that made those wins more meaningful. Patishnock’s head coach at Chamber MMA, Don Cioffi, received a call from the World Series of Fighting (WSOF), the organization for which Patishnock fights under contract.

    This past weekend at the North American Fighting Championship the main event between Roufusport fighter Christian Vazquez and Kurstan Davenport, an independent fighter of Burlington, Iowa pulled a Nick Diaz. Davenport never arrived for the fight after being scheduled to work. Davenport was set to fight in his second professional bout. The unprofessional independent fighter decided to never leave his Iowa home after being given time post weigh-ins to arrive for the match. The Burlington, Iowa native, 33, had an extensive amateur record. Before turning pro, Davenport had a 6-6 record. Showing up and making weight was not a new experience for the 0-1 professional.

    In Milwaukee on a brisk December evening amateur bantamweight fighter Ode “The Oddity” Osbourne out of Waukesha-MMA earns a unanimous decision after three rounds over Jon Morrison at the North American Fighting Championship at the Rave Eagles Club Ballroom. Osbourne went on the attack throwing several strikes once the bout began. The Waukesha-MMA fighter relied on his speed and foot work to out strike Morrison through three rounds. His timing improved over the course of three rounds.
